Things You Need To Know About Dachshunds

Dachshund nanoblocksYou might be a first-time Dachshund owner. Perhaps, you haven’t owned one before. Or maybe, you’ve owned one for a year or two already but just never bothered to research about the breed.

No matter the stage you’re in as a Dachshund owner or a future owner, it’s never too late to get some new information. So, here are the things you need to know about Dachshunds that might actually come in handy.

Dachshunds Are Hunting Dogs

These dogs were originally bred to hunt. Despite the years that went by from the time when they still had to hunt animals down up to the time when they became a house dog, they were still able to retain their natural sense for hunting.

Dogs tend to mess around when there’s some crave that remain to be unsatisfied. As an owner, this can be a big problem in the long run.

What you can do to solve this problem would be to let your Dachshund hunt down its own food. Just scatter the food all-around your dog’s space instead of giving it to him directly. This way, he’ll be challenged as his nose directs him to the food.

Dachshunds Are Trained Through Motivation

One thing about Dachshunds is that they are stubborn and smart. With that, it can be pretty difficult to train this type of dog.

But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be done. For any dog owner, training is important because no one wants to keep an untamed dog in the house.

One way to have your Dachshund trained would be to look for the one thing that can motivate it. For most Dachshunds, it could be food. For others, you might want to play around toys and indoor house rights.

When you have something the dog wants, you’ll get it to follow your orders in no time.

Dachshunds Have A Long Life

If your purpose for getting a dog is to have a life-long companion, then you really made a great choice with your Dachshund.

These dogs live quite a long life compared to other dog counterparts. Dachshunds can live for as long as 14 to 16 years.

If you get a Dachshund now, this dog might even still be staying with you until you get married and have kids of your own.

And then your dog would also have puppies of its own.

Dachshunds Bark Loudly

This could be both a bad and good thing.

Whether you’re at home alone or if you have a family, having some extra protection from thieves and burglars is still necessary.

Dachshunds are particularly hunters. So, they’ll be able to sense danger even from a mile away.

The moment your dogs give off that loud bark, you know exactly that trouble might be nearby.

One disadvantage might be that loud barks can keep you up at night. What’s worse is that it can also keep your neighbours awake. The last thing you want is to hear one of the guys complaining to you early in the morning about your dog.

But this problem isn’t without a resolve.

You can always make it part of your dog’s training to guide him on the things he should be barking at.

With that, your dog won’t end up having to bark at almost anything that crosses your gate.

Well, that’s that.

But before we end this, I have one question for you. How much of a dog lover are you?

Regardless of what the answer may be, it would be pretty neat to have some dog block toys in your house.

There are various breeds available including Dachshunds. The toy comes in 2100 bricks which you can use to build your dog block toy yourself. The toy comes in realistic and authentic colors.
